Dr. Shamylla Samad
Dr. Shamylla Samad a family physician, Dr Samad recognizes the importance of good nutrition as fuel for the body and quality social interactions, that offer fulfilment and positivity; There is a growing body of evidence that shows by taking the steps based on lifestyle principles to nourish your body and mind, this can prevent illness. For too long medicine has been about issuing prescriptions. We know that drugs alone are not enough. It is time for the tide to change and for education to help individuals realize that they are in ultimate control of their health. Dr Samad started her career as a Pharmacist. She has always expressed an interest in nutrition and health. She completed her Masters dissertation in Nutrition. She went on to complete her Medical Degree from the University of Manchester. Since qualifying as a family physician (GP), she has helped many patients’ loose weight and improve their health markers with lifestyle change alone. She is an Ambassador for the Public Health Collaboration, which promotes the concepts of lifestyle medicine and better nutrition. She is involved in roadshows to help educate people on the principle that food is medicine. She has completed her DipIBLM and is enthusiastic to help convey the lifestyle message widely. She states ‘If we can keep as many people as well as possible, it will increase their quality of life and reduce early mortality and disease burden. It will also mean that the remaining populations can obtain better access and better quality of healthcare.’ She holds a keen interest in remission and prevention of lifestyle related diseases such as diabetes and obesity.
